Lake Amador is located about an hour from Sacramento and
Stockton and 2 1/2 hours from the San Francisco Bay Area at an elevation of
485 feet. Amador is a small lake with only 425 acres and 14
miles of shoreline but offers everything any angler could want.
Power boats are permitted however the lake is closed to
water-skiing and jet-skis. The lake has full facilities
including campgrounds, marina, boat rentals, store, etc. All
facilities are open from early February through Thanksgiving.
Amador is one of California's premier bass fishing lakes with

August 5, 2008. The Tackle Box Café reported trout fishing is over for the season, but bass, bluegill and catfish are the targeted species with bass hitting drop shotted plastic worms in rocky structure around the main lake points. The concessionaires have reduced prices for day use, fishing and camping until October 31st. The plants of cutbows will begin within the first week of October.
