We are still in need of boats for the CBAF '09' Kids Camp. I know a lot of you guys are busy and it's not the greatest time for sacrifice. However, we have kids attending who don't understand anything about the economy and you could make their dreams come true by sharing your time and boat with them. We are at Collins lake the weekend of May 1-3rd. If at all possible could you be there with your boat Sunday the 3rd between 5:30 - 6:00 am. It’s a half day tournament with a child - weigh in at 12:00. Please let me know ASAP if you can make it. I will need your full name - address - and date of birth. Thank you for considering this request and possibly making a childs wishes come true.

Hi all,
Just to make sure all our nearest and dearest are in the loop, I thought it best not to rely on a website announcement alone. GFM is holding a “come one come all” SWAP MEET on Saturday, May 16th this year…consider it our contribution to the economic stimulus effort.
Here’s how easy we make it:
-We take in and price everything here at the shop prior to the event (we’d like everyone to have their sale items here by May 10th).
-We track all the sales through our computer system
-We pay proceeds directly to the sellers in the week after the sale.
~~Totally worry free so everyone gets to have a good time!~~

-Complimentary BBQ
-Brand new non-current merchandise that we’re contributing at garage sale prices
- Centralized area to get some great “new” stuff instead of combing neighborhoods for garage sales.

Background. Assemblywoman Jean Fuller, (R) Bakersfield, introduced AB 1253 to take gamefish status away from California’s striped bass. AB 1253 will remove all protections that striped bass currently enjoy and will allow unlimited harvest in all waters, fresh or salt, throughout the entire state. Even commercial harvest of striped bass will be legal if this bill becomes law. |
AB 1253 is the brainchild of large water districts that receive taxpayer subsidized irrigation water from California’s Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. AB 1253 represents a cynical attempt to destroy the will of our striped bass advocates by decimating the fishery, eliminating the fishermen, and starving the related businesses. However the water districts would never admit this publicly; instead they claim that striped bass should be eliminated so that threatened and endangered delta smelt, salmon and steelhead will be free from striped bass predation. The water districts will have you believe that striped bass predation is, in fact, significant. The problem is that the science does not support their claim. Scientists with the California Department of Fish and Game, the US Fish & Wildlife Service, the National Marine Fisheries Service, the California Department of Water Resources, and our State’s colleges and universities are in agreement: striped bass predation is not, nor has ever been, a significant contributor to the decline in smelt, salmon and steelhead. As a business, you have a unique opportunity to help tell the assembly that proper water management and wise water allocation are needed, not the destruction of one of California's most enjoyed and economically-important fisheries. Hello CBAF Anglers,
Our kids need your support!! We are having our annual Kids Bass Camp outreach weekend at Collins Lake May 1-3 and we need your help! We have 50 kids from various family backgrounds who will be attending our Bass camp, learning valuable life lessons and the basics of bass fishing in a Godly environment. Sunday, May 3, is the big day for these kids and here is where we need your help. We are going to have a half day bass tournament where each of the 50 kids will be paired with a pro (you), giving them an experience of a lifetime. Our goal is to have one child per boat. As you can understand, this presents a tremendous need. We would like to ask for you to donate just a Half a Day of your time with your boat on Sunday morning and take one of our campers fishing. Your launch will be paid for and you will be fed lunch.
